A happy dog is a good dog.

If you want to keep your pet around for a long time, then it’s important to make sure he or she feels cared for and well-loved at all times. Dogs don’t like feeling neglected, which can lead them to become anxious and frustrated – not to mention destructive when they get bored or lonely!

Luckily, there are plenty of ways we humans make our furry friends happy.

In this post, we will discuss 10 things you can do to keep our dogs happy!

1. Take Your Dog on a Walk

This may sound pretty obvious, but have you ever taken your dog on a nice, long walk?

Walking is a great way to bond with your pet and build a relationship. In addition, it’s a great workout for both you and your pup!

So take him or her on a more relaxed stroll through the park or hike every now and then – they’ll love you for it!

2. Give Your Dog a Massage

Dogs, like people, enjoy getting massages sometimes.

It can relieve some of their stress and anxiety and make them feel good overall.

If your dog doesn’t seem to be into getting touched or held too much by strangers, then ask your local vet or groomer to show you how to give your dog a massage.

They’ll be thankful for the kind gesture!

3. Teach Your Dog Some Fun New Tricks

Does your dog know how to shake his paw? What about rollover?

Don’t be afraid to try teaching him some new, fun tricks! If you have a smart pup who picks up on things pretty fast, then the two of you can have a lot of fun learning together.

In addition, when your dog learns a new trick, he or she will feel pretty proud and excited about it. After all, who doesn’t love a reason to celebrate?

4. Play a Game of Hide the Treats

Hide the treats in different places of your house and see if your dog can find them.

To make the game even more enjoyable, try to increase the difficulty by finding harder-to-reach spots or putting several fragile items (like porcelain figurines) near where you’ve hidden the snacks. Your pup will have fun trying to find the treats, but let him win every now and then.

5. Teach Your Dog to Fetch

Not only is this game great for your pet’s physical health, but it also helps him or her build confidence!

Make sure you keep some fresh water on hand while playing fetch with your dog. If he gets too tired, be sure to stop the game.

This is also a good time for you two to have some bonding time!

6. Take Your Dog Swimming

Dogs love to play in the water. If you have a pool or live near any, then take your pet swimming!  Not only is this fun for your dog, but it’s also a good exercise for you both.

You’ll be surprised how much freedom you can give your dog when they are in the water.

7. Make Some DIY Toys

There is plenty of easy (and fun!) DIY dog toys out there. For example, you can make your own homemade tug rope or buy some durable, chew toys that will last for years to come!

A great way to keep your puppy entertained is by giving him something he can play with on his own, like a Kong toy filled with peanut butter and treats.

8. Teach Your Dog How to Relax

If your dog acts like he can’t sit still, then try to teach him how to feel relaxed.

Teaching your pet how to relax will help them stay calm when they are in stressful or overwhelming situations (like when you have friends over).

How do you do it?   Develop a “set” command where they can learn how to relax, then you can teach him to use that command in any situation.

9. Provide Adequate Shelter

Just like humans, your dog needs a place to call home.

Having a comfortable shelter helps him or her adapt to new environments and feel safe when you’re not around. When choosing the right shelter for your pup, make sure it is large enough for them to stand up and move comfortably, but small enough that they can stay warm and dry.

10. Take Your Dog to the Vet at least once a year

A visit to the vet might seem like it’s all about you checking up on your pup, but there are actually lots of things that your vet can do for your pet.

At each visit, the vet will check up on any health conditions or illnesses your dog may have and make sure he or she is current with their c3 or c5 vaccinations

In addition, your vet can also provide you with tips to help keep your dog be healthy and happy.
