Cumbres de Monterrey National Park near Monterrey in the Sierra de Madre Oriental mountains of Nuevo Leon and Coahuila. 2 LAS GRUTAS DE GARCIA
The Garcia Caves, or Las Grutas de Garcia, are about 50 minutes from Monterrey. There are two ways to access the caves once visitors arrive at Garcia Cave Park. The first and least strenuous option is to take the cable car up the mountain, but the cable car does not always run. The other option is to hike up the mountainside. 3 LA HUASTECA CANYON
La Huasteca Canyon is a popular climbing area in the Cumbres de Monterrey National Park, 20 minutes from Monterrey’s downtown. Local guides offer tours throughout the park and hire one on your first visit. The Nido de Los Aguiluchos, or Eagle’s Nest trail, in Huasteca Park is suitable for climbers of average fitness. 4 THE MATACANES CANYON
Matacanes Canyon in the Cumbres de Monterrey National Park, south of Monterrey. The water that flows through this canyon has formed natural pools where visitors can swim. There are mysterious underground rivers in grottoes into which adventurers can rappel, as well as an 80-foot-tall waterfall down which you can rappel on a unique canyoneering adventure. There are also a few natural slides and small cliff jumps for the more daring visitors.

5 CERRO DE LA SILLA
