Since YouTube was introduced, it has become one of the most used social media platforms of the decade. People use it for different purposes such as entertainment, obtaining knowledge, solving queries, and many more things. In addition, content creators can earn money by uploading their content on this platform and making a good living.

The history of YouTube is very complicated, and the owner of this platform has changed since it was first discovered. The primary purpose of YouTube was to provide people with a platform where they could search for every video, and before this, downloading or watching a video was almost impossible. Hence, the owner of YouTube discovered this platform to make it easy for people to find videos in one place.

What is YouTube?

YouTube is a simple video-sharing platform and a social media platform that allows users to share their content. There are many features such as comments, subscriptions, likes, shares, and more like any other social media platform. Besides the social media platform, it is the second most used search engine after Google surpassing the biggest search engines like Yahoo and Bing.

It provides a platform where you can easily find any kind of video and whatever problem you have. It is the reason why YouTube is so famous today. Types of videos on this platform are as follows.

  • Entertainment
  • Web series
  • Movies
  • Gaming streams
  • Educational
  • Question answering session

History of YouTube

This video-sharing platform was first registered on 14 February 2005 by three former employees of an e-commerce company known as PayPal. Their name is Steve Chen, Javed Karim, and Chad Hurley; they were very annoyed by the idea of how hard it was to find a simple video on the Internet. So, they decided to make a platform where people can easily enjoy sharing their videos and watching other videos.

The headquarter of the company was in San Bruno, CA. At first, it was excessed for a limited period with a beta version in 2005 and attracted around 30 thousand visitors per day. After watching the immense popularity of this platform, they finally decided to launch it officially on 15 December 2005. After that, it started serving around 2 million videos every day.

By January 2006, it has become one of the most-used social media platforms worldwide, with around 25 million viewers. With the advancement of YouTube and competition among content creators, some people buy YouTube views to make their channel more prominent.

However, since YouTube’s introduction, many big companies have had their limelight on this platform. Google Inc also launched a media platform for their company known as Google videos, but it failed to collect enough traffic to become popular. So, Google decided to purchase YouTube, and in 2006 they purchased it for 1.65 billion dollars.

Why did YouTube become famous?

One of the biggest reasons YouTube is becoming famous is that it is a platform that is 100 % free to use. People can easily sign into this platform and watch whatever they want on this platform without spending a single penny. Signing is not necessary to watch videos, but the user must watch videos above 18 because, without age verification, no one can see Explicit content.

The reason why it is famous

  1. Easy to use interface – YouTube is one of the easiest mobile applications or websites you can use on your mobile phone or computer. People with no or less knowledge of computers can also use YouTube freely because every feature is available in front of the home screen. It is popular in all age groups children and adults can both use this platform.
  2. Data management – One of the best things about these social media platforms is that they can work according to your data and Internet speed. You can easily choose the higher-resolution videos if you are running your YouTube application on Wi-Fi or have unlimited data access. However, if you don’t have any excess Wi-Fi or have limited data and you don’t have to worry about your data; you can switch to the low resolutio, which does not consume much data.
  3. Offline downloads – You can also access features such as offline downloads, which can be very useful when you are out of an Internet connection or any kind of network. For instance, if you are going to have a trip around the mountains, you can download music or entertainment videos later to pass your time in the mountains.

Today Around 10 % of Google’s net worth is generated through YouTube. Millions of people use it daily for entertainment and educational purposes. Some people buy YT views to make their content trending and be shown on discovery. But the YouTube algorithm does not work like this; it only shows the important content for their use, just like Google.
