Daylight Realty, Jason Ng – Jason Ng is a proud member of his family business, Daylight Realty, and is from Hong Kong. He immigrated with his parents in 1988. When he arrived in Vancouver, he was about 12 or 13 years old, he recalls.
After attending Simon Fraser University, he obtained his sociology degree and his computer science certificate. Shortly after, he had a brief stint in system administration. The entire time however, he felt a calling to follow in the footsteps of his parents as a realtor.
When the Ng family first moved from Hong Kong to Canada, they decided that they could start an advantageous career in the real estate sector. They became licensed and began buying and selling properties for their clients, and most of these meetings Jason Ng recalls attending with his sister.
Having grown up watching his parents work in the real estate sector, Jason Ng has a good idea of what it takes to be a good realtor. In his interview with Digital Journal, he described his family history in the real estate sector and the struggles they overcame together.
Jason Ng says that his story was one of both immense struggle and success, and the journey to becoming a successful realtor (let alone part of a family of successful realtors) was an uphill battle.
“It was a lot of hard work, but it was worth it,” says Ng. After all, it was real estate that allowed the Ng family to cultivate their dream in Canada.
While many residents decided to up and leave in the late 80s, Jason Ng and his family were building their real estate business. This proved beneficial when Chinese-speaking immigrants began buying homes on Canada’s West Coast.
“I remember my parents working really hard in those initial years,” says Ng.
While Jason Ng’s mother tongue is Cantonese, he also grew up with the kids of Taiwanese clients, which allowed him to also learn Mandarin.
All of these life lessons and skills that Jason Ng learned allowed him to comfortably continue his parents’ legacy and continue building their real estate business in Vancouver.
Today, Jason Ng is the owner of both Daylight Realty and Times Realty, and he regularly contributes and is interviewed by digital platforms for his tips and tricks on the real estate industry. He provides advice to both homebuyers and sellers as well as budding realtors who are looking to develop their clients base.
According to Jason Ng, being a great realtor is about a few fundamental principles. The first of which is to always do what’s best for your clients. That means knowing their hopes, dreams and ambitions and helping them align their purchase or sale with their goals.
Despite the ups and downs being a realtor can bring, and while business can constantly fluctuate, being a great realtor means that you will get word-of-mouth referrals and recommendations.
When you do right by the people you work with, they recommend you to others and your business and your networks will always be there.
