Elden Ring offers a total of 6 various endings. How can the Tarnished unlock all these outcomes?

Elden Ring has been one of the hottest games that players can try out recently. The game’s great hack-and-slash feature and extraordinary story and lore have made the game very popular. Aside from cool Elden Ring armors and weapons, the hit game has been enticing fans to run multiple playthroughs to get various endings. Like some of FromSoftware Inc’s games like the Souls series and Bloodborne, Elden Ring offers gamers more than two different ending scenes, which players should try to unlock.

Multiple Endings

Elden Ring has six endings, which players can unlock depending on their characters’ choices and actions. These last acts have their own name and represent various implications to the Lands Between. Unfortunately, gamers cannot have two or more endings simultaneously. Players will have to rerun the game to experience every cutscene more than once.

Though it can be pretty tedious and time-consuming, acquiring every outcome for the Lands Between is an enriching experience. The factors determining the ending are very simple and straightforward, so players can decide right away which path they will take. Fortunately, the type of Elden Ring weapons used is not a deciding factor, so gamers can keep spamming their favorite offensive item.

Here are all the endings for the Lands Between:

  • Age of Fracture
  • Age of Order
  • Age of Duskborn
  • Blessing of Despair
  • Lord of the Frenzied Flame
  • Age of the Stars

How to Unlock Each Ending?

Some outcomes are more straightforward to unlock than others. However, players will have a lot of time to decide which finale they want to see. Most of these endings will be in the same questline and will only vary at later stages in the game. Only the Lord of the Frenzied Flame will lock out gamers from other outcomes very early in the game. Here is how to unlock each final cutscene:

Age of Fracture

  • Defeat the 13th Boss
  • Choose the “Mend the Elden Ring” option

Age of Order

  • Complete Brother Corhyn’s or Goldmask’s questline
  • Obtain the Mending Rune of Perfect Order
  • Defeat the 13th Boss
  • Choose the “Use Mending Rune of Perfect Order” option

Age of Duskborn

  • Complete Brother Corhyn’s or Goldmask’s questline
  • Obtain the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince
  • Defeat the 13th Boss
  • Choose the “Use Mending Rune of the Death-Prince” option

Blessing of Despair

  • Interact with the Dung Eater after reaching the Altus Plateau
  • Offer a Seedbed Curse
  • Acquire the Sewer-Gaol Key
  • Free the physical body of the Dunge Eater (don’t kill him) under Leyndell
  • Read the Dung Eater’s message in the Roundtable Hold
  • Go to the Northside of Leyndell and fight the Dung Eater
  • After killing him, go back to the Roundtable Hold, where he will ask for more Seedbed Curses
  • Collect more of these items and bring them back to the Dung Eater’s physical body in the Underground Roadside
  • After giving him 5 Seedbed Curses, he will provide the “Mending Rune of the Fell Curse.”
  • Defeat the 13th Boss
  • Choose the “Use Mending Rune of the Fell Curse” option

Lord of the Frenzied Flame (Doing Several Steps into this one will immediately prevent players from unlocking other endings)

  • Locate the Cathedral of the Forsaken under the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds
  • Enter the large stone door by removing all armor and becoming naked (Doing this step will effectively lock gamers to this outcome)
  • After entering the door, players will trigger a cutscene, which will leave characters with full-body burns and glowing red eyes.
  • Defeat the 13th Boss
  • Choose the “Become the Lord of the Frenzied Flame” option.

Age of the Stars

  • Complete Lunar Princess Ranni’s quest
  • Defeat the 13th Boss
  • Do not Interact with the Elden Ring
  • Interact with the blue summon sign close to the ring, “Summon Ranni.”
  • Choose this option to call Ranni the Witch

What Do These Endings Mean?

Age of Fracture is the default ending for the game. Upon mending the Elden Ring, the Tarnished becomes the new Elden Lord. This outcome essentially continues the cycle but with more order.

The Age of Order can be considered more stable than the Age of Fracture. By using the Rune of Perfect Order, the Tarnished essentially reshapes the Lands Between into a reality with pure order and with the absence of chaos. While this ending ushers in a new age of peace, this choice essentially removes the free will and freedom living under this new reality.

The Age of Duskborn ending is more complex than the default outcome. After using the Rune of the Death-Prince, the Tarnished makes the cycle of life and death more intertwined. This choice essentially removes the curse of immortality experienced in the Lands Between. It is unclear what this means for the realm’s residents, but it may imply an era heralded by undead demigods.

The Blessing of Despair is considered one of the bad endings in the game. After using the Rune of the Fell Curse, the Tarnished unleashes a reviled malediction into the Lands Between. This choice locks out all residents of the realm from the Erdtree, forcing them to live a living death.

The Lord of Frenzied Flame can be considered the worst or the terrible ending of the game. By becoming the Lord of the Frenzied Flame, the Tarnished will burn everything in the Lands Between. This choice is the worst outcome of all since it leads to the burning of the Erdtree.

The Age of the Stars is a secret ending, which many players consider the Best True Ending. This outcome sees Ranni the Witch supplanting Marika as the Goddess. The Tarnished becomes the Elden Lord and becomes the new goddess’ consort. After establishing a new order, the company removes The Greater Will from the Lands between and leaves the realm to undergo a journey. This choice leaves the world without a deity or ruler for the first time in many ages, leaving the fate of the land to its inhabitants.

All of these outcomes have exciting cutscenes and implications for the world of Elden Ring. Though it may take players multiple runs to unlock every ending, achieving every finale is worth the effort. After acquiring one ending, gamers should ready their Elden Ring items and begin their journey to explore every conclusion to the game.
