Having spent most of last year stuck at home, my family and I were itching to escape to the mountains. Earlier this year, we decided to go on a quick tour of Uttarakhand. We scoured through the internet for a suitable tour package that would be both comprehensive but not too long, and a few supportive Thrillophilia Positive reviews led us to the Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mussoorie trip offered by Thrillophilia. This particular tour was only three days and two nights long, which was perfectly suited to our requirements.

The three of us took the tour in July, right during the onset of the monsoon season. The tour started from Delhi itself. A designated pickup point was arranged for us, where we were to meet the tour representative. Upon arriving at the location, we were accompanied into a car, which was to take us to Haridwar. We were at Haridwar by afternoon, and spent the day touring the holy city. Our first stop was the famed Vaishno Mata Mandir, followed by the Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple.

We stopped for lunch at one of the local dhabas for traditional food. Later, we headed over to the Har ki Pauri Ghat. Located just beside the Ghaat is the Mansa Devi Temple, known to command excellent vista views. We hiked to the temple, then came back down to the Ghaat again to witness the marvelous Ganga Aarti. The Aarti itself was such a spectacle! With millions of diyas and lamps lit up in worship by the dark waters of the roaring Ganga. After the Aarti, we resumed our journey by road, and arrived at Rishikesh by night.

We were too tired after the long and exhausting first day, so we chose to dine in at our hotel in Rishikesh that night. The next morning started early and was full of adventure! Our first stop in Rishikesh was Shivpuri, where we were to try river rafting. None of us had ever tried rafting before, so we were quite nervous as to how we’d manage it. However, we had wonderful instructors to guide us through the know hows and also accompany us on the raft itself.

We decided to complement the adventure with a quick cliff diving session, hurtling ourselves off the sheer rocks and into the ice cold waters of the glacial Ganga! Chilled to the bone then, we headed back to our hotel for lunch and a quick rest. Late in the afternoon, we headed out again to explore the rest of the city. We made our way to the Ram and Lakshman Jhula, the two hanging bridges who’s inception dates back to the ages of the Ramayana. There were some local markets around that area as well, selling handcrafted winter wear and souvenirs, so we spent some time there as well.

After a quick tour of the Rishikesh streets, we started our journey towards Mussoorie, the next stop in our Uttarakhand tour package. We were at Mussoorie before nightfall and tucked in early. The next day was spent in Mussoorie. We woke up early and left for an excursion to Dhanaulti. The first stop in our itinerary was the Eco Park in Dhanaulti. Home to some of Uttarakhand’s best natural wildlife, the Park turned out to be quite the treat. We spent a fair bit of time hiking through the Park, accompanied by a tour guide who led us through its trails and forest roads.

After a fantastic morning at the Park, we headed back to Mussoorie for a fun picnic by the Kempty Waterfall. The Kempty Falls is a multilevel waterfall just outside Mussoorie. The falls event features a pool at the bottom, although we choose not to take a dip there. Instead, we explored some of the cafes around Kempty. The last item on our itinerary was the cable car ride to the Gun Hill Viewpoint. We embarked on the ride right at dusk, and was able to witness a marvelous sunrise through the mountains. That evening, we decided to dine out.

We headed out to explore the local diners in the neighborhood and enjoyed a traditional dinner. The following day marked the end of the tour. We were transferred back to Delhi by car, and travelled homeward. True to what the Thrillophilia great reviews had said, this short and compact tour exceeded all of our expectations. Not only was the sightseeing itinerary well planned, but it was carried out in an extremely smooth manner.

We were ferried from one place to another in sanitized, comfortable cars, and never faced any issue during travel. MOreover, our driver cum tour guide stayed with us throughout the whole trip, and was always ready to help us make our way through the cities. All our hotels were booked in advance as well, making it easy for us to simply check in and head to our rooms. Our first experience with Thrillophilia proved to be amazing; can’t wait for the next one!
