My favourite pieces of unique jewellery are the ones that have not been worn so long that I just take them out of the box and wear them without thinking. I am particularly fond of vintage pieces as I love to re-create a certain time and place that they originally occupied. Collecting jewellery is like collecting memories; you just have to pick the best ones to preserve those memories for the rest of your life! My collection of jewellery consists mainly of vintage items, but I also enjoy antique jewellery, costume jewellery and vintage rings. Here I will tell you more about each type of jewellery and where I got them.

Where to buy Vintage Jewellery

Vintage pieces can be found in many places, from antique shops such as carusjewellery.com to estate sales to online auctions. The internet is also a great place to find unique vintage pieces, especially if you’re looking for antiques that are particularly rare or very old (e.g. vintage Star Wars pieces). There are lots of websites on the internet that will help you track down the best bargains on classic pieces, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding something special.

Vintage jewellery is designed by hand

Most modern pieces aren’t vintage in the traditional sense, but they still have some of their charm from a bygone era. The most popular types of modern jewellery aren’t necessarily vintage, but they are often inspired by it. Many vintage pieces of jewellery like antique and vintage brooches have gone through a restoration process, so you can often find these pieces having undergone such a process.

Many vintage pieces of vintage jewellery are designed by hand, so you can bet that there are plenty of tiny gems hidden inside! If you’re particularly keen, you might even be able to find a whole set in your price range – and don’t worry, you can always sell them back when you get your own collection!

Costume jewellery

Costume jewellery usually refers to those pieces of jewellery which are designed for use as a costume accessory. This type of jewellery is used to make a character look even more unusual, but they are also incredibly attractive and eye-catching. For example, you might find vintage pearls in this category or cute animal-shaped charms.

These are often very chic and stylish, but you can really make them look unique by wearing them with a suit, shirt and trousers – it’s even better if you’re planning on going to the theatre! These pieces can really turn a plain outfit into something spectacular. Another popularly themed item of costume jewellery is the Claddagh symbol, which has become almost ubiquitous in many modern pieces of jewellery.

Antique lovers

Vintage jewellery is also great for those who don’t want to buy new items. If you’re in love with a piece of jewellery that you’ve seen on the arm of a famous celebrity, you can often have it custom made to measure so that it matches exactly. You could then pass it on to a close friend or relative as a gift, but you’re unlikely to go searching for a new piece if you like the one you already have. In fact, you may actually find that your collection will grow to such an extent that you’ll need another piece to add to it!

Conclusions

Some people are just in love with vintage jewellery, regardless of style or time period. For others, it’s all about recognisable designs from a certain era. If you’re open to the possibilities, you can get some truly magnificent vintage pieces. Just be sure to choose carefully, since you don’t want to end up with jewellery that you won’t be able to wear again. With so many options available, you’re sure to be able to find something special. My favourite pieces of unique jewellery are ones that I can wear, time again.
