Car stickers are the most cost-effective marketing method to spread your business’ message in front of potential clients and customers. Repositioning them is an easy task and they also don’t leave any residue upon removing. This is why vehicle decals are the first preference for restaurants, retail stores, schools, and businesses.

There are two types of car stickers available in the market. The first one needs to be applied to the exterior of the car. These are standard car stickers. On the other hand, some car stickers have adhesive on the viewing side of the sticker. In this case, you need to apply them inside the window. This makes them burglar-proof.

However, if you don’t take precautions, you might end up causing wrinkles or bubbles inside the sticker. This will not only ruin the appearance but also decrease the visibility of your message and logos.

In this article, we will discuss the top 4 tips to install car stickers.

Clean the Surface

Cleaning the surface of the car is very important before you start applying your stickers. Pre-wash the specific area of your car either using water or soap. You can also use a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water. However, make sure that the rubbing alcohol contains 70% isopropyl alcohol and the mixture has 50% rubbing alcohol and 50% water. After you’re finished cleaning the surface with soapy water, rinse thoroughly with clean water until you get rid of all the soap.

Remember that you should not use any car-cleaning or window-cleaning products. They are not as effective as soapy water. Additionally, the car cleaning products might leave some residues behind which will affect the adhesive of the car decals

Install Only When the Temperature is Moderate

Many business owners make this mistake while applying their vehicle decals. They don’t care about the temperature and end up ruining the sticker. Remember that the temperature plays a crucial role during the installation process. As per Reference, a place with a moderate climate is neither too cold nor too hot

If you want to achieve results, install your stickers on the car in a shaded area. Don’t expose them to direct sunlight. You should also make sure that the temperature is moderate while installing the stickers. This means the temperature needs to be above 50F and below 90F.

Masking Tape is Very Important

Masking tape is another essential thing you need while applying vehicle decals. Masking tape will help you to ensure the location of your sticker. In other words, they will ensure that the stickers are positioned accurately. You just need to leave the white backing paper in place and you can position the sticker easily. Install a piece of masking tape at the edge of the car stickers. This will fix the proper location. After that, adjust the position of the sticker and peel off the backing paper.

Use Wet Method

Most of the small car stickers can be applied without using water. But, if you want to install large or very large vehicle decals, the wet method is a life-saving trick. After you clean the surface, spray and wet the area with a solution of 95% water and 5% soap. Don’t forget to apply the sticker while the area is still wet. This will prevent the adhesive from sticking immediately and you can reposition the sticker easily. This will also help you to remove any bubbles. Once the soapy water is dried out after a few minutes, your sticker will be fixed properly.
